Dr. Seyyed Abolghasem Hosseini, M.D.

Founder of the Divine-Islamic School of Psychology
Dr. Hosseini is an Iranian psychiatrist and educator who has devoted his career to mental health and to developing the Divine (Islamic) school of psychology, an approach that brings together modern psychiatry and the spiritual and ethical teachings of Islam.
Biography
Dr. Hosseini was born in Iran in 1936. He graduated from Tehran Medical School in 1961 and completed his postgraduate training in psychiatry in 1968. Since then he has taught psychiatry and mental health at Mashhad University of Medical Sciences. In 1984 he was selected as a mental health expert by the World Health Organization (WHO).

The Divine School of Psychology
At the heart of Dr. Hosseini’s work is the idea that lasting mental health rests on the balance between conscience and desire, and that the Divine school can serve as a coordinating framework for the other schools of psychology.
